Just typed "myth of the 300" to test the search facility and verily it displayed the aforementioned thread, http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=92571 and its reassuring to see most of the die hard 'Dead Hearts' still in the vicinity.
I have a feeling that there are many who check in but don't leave a note for reasons best known to themselves. We know that Arb doesn't post anything that's not worthwhile and I think that goes some way to explaining the number of views. There may be some repeat views but, as has been shown several times, when there is a good reason for folks to post they do, for example, to support Dire, Dancinbears, SDH, Bryan, etc. It's heartening to know all the good people are still around, if only in the background.

It's also a reminder that our past idiocies, inconsistencies and intemperate utterances can be called back to haunt us with little more than a click of the mouse. It might almost make you think twice before posting. Or then again, perhaps not!

Or that we should go back to deletion at will! Lord knows I have considered that option for many of mine...funny, though, had forgotten how long ago the two of us were connecting hereabouts--jeeezzz, some of us are getting old.

Must say I don't think I've ever been tempted to go back and delete. I've edited here and there when I've spotted mistakes (you're not the only anal member of the congregation!). As to the length of our relationship, all I can say is that more often than not it's been a real pleasure. We've had our differences for sure but the great thing is that we generally resolve them and move on.

Since you like them so much - here's a lyric for you:

"I've been scraping little shavings
off my ration of light
and I've formed it into a ball
and each time I pack a bit more onto it
and I make a bowl of my hands and
I scoop it from its secret cache
under a loose board in the floor
and I blow across it and I send it to you
against those moments when the darkness
blows under your door

Isn't that what friends are for?"

Thanks--nice, real nice. Oddly enough, was just sanding the front door this morning!?!

On the other topic, only thing is, if I took up deletions in a big way, my obvious contradictions, changes of heart, etc., etc., would be far less apparent. And then, I might actually have a following or something better if I was just a bit more consistent...hmmm, on the other hand.
